UAE fuel prices for September 2026
The UAE’s fuel price committee has confirmed prices for September 2026, and drivers are paying more across every grade. Petrol rose by roughly 5.6–5.9%, while diesel jumped 13.2% — the sharpest single-month increase of the year.
| Fuel type | August 2026 | September 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Super 98 | AED 3.60 | AED 3.80 | +AED 0.20 (+5.6%) |
| Special 95 | AED 3.49 | AED 3.69 | +AED 0.20 (+5.7%) |
| E-Plus 91 | AED 3.41 | AED 3.61 | +AED 0.20 (+5.9%) |
| Diesel | AED 3.80 | AED 4.30 | +AED 0.50 (+13.2%) |
Prices took effect from 1 September 2026. Khaleej Times and OneClickDrive both confirm the same figures.
Why did diesel rise so much more than petrol?
Diesel has moved on a different pricing track from petrol for most of 2026. UAE pump prices generally follow international benchmark prices with roughly a one-month lag, and global diesel markets have been more volatile than petrol this year. The gap between diesel and Special 95 — normally a matter of a few fils — doubled in September, from AED 0.31 to AED 0.61 per litre. That makes running a diesel vehicle meaningfully more expensive relative to petrol this month, worth knowing if you’re weighing fuel types for a new car.
What this actually costs you
Take a 30km one-way commute driven round trip every day, in a car doing 8.5L/100km on Special 95. That’s 5.1 litres per round trip — AED 17.80/day in August versus AED 18.82/day in September, or about AED 30 more a month from the price change alone. A diesel driver on the same route at a more efficient 7L/100km still sees a bigger jump in AED terms: roughly AED 63 more a month, because diesel’s per-litre increase was so much larger.
These are illustrative numbers — your actual fuel economy, distance and fuel type will change the result. Use the Fuel Cost Calculator or Trip Cost Calculator to get your own figure with September’s prices already built in.
