Figures we have not yet sourced

Vehicle-specific fuel economy defaults, insurance/maintenance defaults on the Car Running Cost calculator, and depreciation are marked as illustrative starting points or intentionally excluded — not verified figures — until we can cite a specific source per vehicle. Our planned vehicle database will carry a source and verification date per record, the same standard as the data above.

Reporting outdated data

If a rate above has changed and we haven’t updated it yet, please let us know.

Why we publish our data sources openly

Most calculator sites don’t tell you where their numbers come from — our data sources page does, on purpose. Every fuel price used across this site traces to the monthly UAE Fuel Price Committee announcement; every Salik figure traces to Dubai RTA’s published toll schedule; every Darb figure traces to Sharjah’s own toll authority. Listing our data sources this explicitly lets you cross-check any result instead of taking our word for it.

When one of our data sources updates its published rate, we update the corresponding calculator within days, not months — stale toll or fuel data would make every calculator on the site less useful, so this page is reviewed regularly rather than written once and forgotten. You can check current federal fuel pricing directly at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

Official data sources behind DriveCarCost.com's UAE fuel and toll calculators

Suggesting a missing data source

If you know of an official data source we should be citing and aren’t, let us know — we’d rather add it than leave a gap.

How often these data sources are checked

These data sources aren’t a one-time reference — each one is checked monthly at minimum, and immediately whenever a public announcement signals a rate change. That’s the only way a driving-cost calculator stays honest month to month: fuel prices move on a fixed monthly schedule, but toll authorities can adjust rates with less notice, so these data sources are the first thing reviewed whenever a number on the site looks like it might be out of date.

We’d rather show you exactly which data sources back a number than ask you to trust a black box. If you ever compare a result here against the primary source yourself and find a mismatch, that’s useful — tell us and we’ll check it against these data sources directly.
